Employment Law Changes in 2013

Employment law solicitors can never rest easy as their chosen area of law is one that is constantly changing, on a weekly if not daily basis. Tribunal decisions and Employment Appeal Tribunal decisions are delivered daily and can have massive consequences to employment law cases throughout the UK. Legislative changes on top of this change the law and again these changes can dramatically alter the employer-employee relationship. 2013 will again prove to be no exception and our employment lawyers at Employment Law Aberdeen constantly monitor such changes to ensure that our advice is up to date, relevant and the best that we can provide.

For example 2013 will bring changes to statutory maternity, paternity and adoption payments ( as of April). We will see changes to the laws relating holidays to ensure compliance with the Working Time Directive. Fees will be introduced for employees to lodge a tribunal claim, a massive change. Also, the collective redundancy consultation period will be reduced to 45 days as of April 2013. Employee shareholder contracts will be implemented as well.

All in all, such changes show the need for employers and employees to pay attention to employment law changes. We will keep you advised with regular updates. If you have an employment law issue then contact our employment lawyers for some free initial advice, we are happy to discuss your situation and to advise how we can help.
