Agency Workers Appealing to Employers

Approximately half of employers (52%) are planning to recruit agency staff in the next quarter, whilst 48% aim to do so over the next four to twelve months, according a survey by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).

The JobsOutlook monthly survey of employers also found that:

- 81% of employers intend to take on permanent staff over the next three months;

- 34% of employers say they need to recruit new staff in order to meet increasing business demands, rising from 25% at the end of 2013; and

- 61% of employers claim not to have reduced their workforce costs over the last year.

Commenting on the survey, Kate Shoesmith, REC, Head of Policy said: "Business confidence continues to grow and it is excellent news to see employers planning to hire more people on permanent contracts for the rest of 2014."
