The Scottish Agricultural Wages Board (SAWB) has proposed a rise in the minimum wage rate for agricultural workers with views being sought on such by 27 June 2014.
The rates proposed by the Board are as follows:
• £6.50 per hour for people in the first 26 weeks of employment;
• £7.14 per hour for people employed for more that 26 weeks by the same employer;
• £3.96 per hour for workers undertaking Modern Apprenticeship in Agriculture at Level 2;
• £1.08 per hour for workers with appropriate qualifications; and
• £5.41 per dog per week should be provided to those working with dogs, subject to a maximum of four dogs.
SAWB, an autonomous body comprising of members representing the interests of employers, members representing the interests of workers and independent members appointed by Scottish the Government, plan to meet in August 2014 to consider views received with a view to giving effect to the proposals from October 2014.
